Man killed while working on Thomson gas station sign identified! DETAILS

A man, who was found dead inside a gas station sign in Thomson Georgia on Saturday, was possibly electrocuted after attempting to cut a wire while trying to fix a sign.

A clerks at Love's Gas Station got a call from D&G Outdoor Lighting & Signs about a missing tech worker.

According to the Coroner 's Office, the tech worker talked to his supervisor around 2pm telling him he would call back after he fixed the sign. But, the supervisor did not hear from the the tech worker again.

The D&G supervisor checked the GPS tracker on the worker's truck which showed the truck never left Love's Gas Station. The D&G manager called the gas station and told the clerks his worker had never called him back and asked them to go check on him.

The McDuffie County Coroner has identified the worker who died as Ernest Ray.

Initial findings suggested the Mr. Ray may have been electrocuted after trying to cut a wire inside the sign. The findings have not been confirmed by the GBI crime lab.

Ernest Ray's body is scheduled for an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.

He is survived by his 3 sons, mother, 4 siblings, 5 nieces, 3 three nephews and girlfriend Samantha Weiss.
