Kanye West Is Thinking About Starting His Own Church... Seriously

Pastor West is coming to a pulpit near year.

According to People, Kanye West's second weekend Coachella Sunday Service has inspired the controversial rapper to consider starting his own church. "He is extremely passionate about his faith and wants to share it more regularly with people," a source close to West told the entertainment news site. "He spends a lot of time studying and praying, and wants to share his journey."

"Say what you want about Kanye, but he really does want to help people who need support," the insider continued. "He understands brokenness and the need for healing, probably more than most people. He believes in the healing powers of music, but also believes that God can step in and heal people’s brokenness and their issues."

As fans know, more than 50,000 people attended Ye's early morning Sunday service at Coachella weekend two even though it was only announced a few weeks before the show. "It was completely sincere," the source added of Kanye's Coachella performance, which drew a star-studded crowd that included nearly all of the Kardashian-Jenner family, Travis Scott, Chance the Rapper, Kid Cudi, DMX, Teyana Taylor, and more. "Everything about it was planned out, because he wanted to encourage and minister to people."

"He has talked about starting his own church, and what exactly that would be," the insider continued. "It wouldn’t be the traditional, 3-hymns-and-a-sermon thing. Instead, it would be a way to point people to Jesus through the arts and through a community of people who love and care for each other. He also wants his kids to be raised in faith, and the best way for him to do that is to live out his faith."

The church would most likely be Christian as Kanye's wife Kim Kardashian previously told Elle that Kanye's Sunday services have a "Christian vibe," and are a "very spiritual Christian experience."
