Dr. Christopher Looney
"I met Dr. Looney through Dr. Gregory Cook (another iHeartMedia Augusta Salutes Silent Heroe). I was referred to Dr. Looney back in February of 2020. I cannot express enough the blessing that he has been to me. He has went above and beyond in my care. I was referred to him with a diagnosis and after talking with me during my initial visit, he continued to think about me and my case. I was scheduled for a procedure on February 27, 2020. Before the started the procedure he met with me and my husband and explained that he had been thinking about me and there was a possibility that there was something else going on than the original diagnosis from a CT scan and clinical symptoms. Thank the Lord he proceeded to check for something that is very rare before treating me for the original diagnosis. Had he treated me for the original diagnosis, I would have been in worse shape. I have a rare and complex pelvic AVM. I have had 5 procedures so far to treat this and will need more. After every procedure he personally calls to check on me. One out of the five procedures was really rough on me (the recovery). He called and spoke with me 5 times. I called him twice to let him know about complications and he called me back. The other three times was just to check on how I was doing. He called my gynocologist (Dr. Greg Cook) and got me in to be seen after complications from my 4th procedure. I have had to have follow ups with Dr. Cook and the last time I was there, Dr. Cook told me that Dr. Looney had called him that morning with his concerns for me. Dr. Cook told me I have a very conscientious doctor. Dr. Looney made sure I had his cell number if I ever needed to get in touch with him. I appreciate that and would never take advantage of that. Most recently, I was scheduled for procedure #6. He called me yesterday, to tell me he had consulted with another doctor (I think he said at Duke) and felt like I need to postpone my procedure and have an MRI done first. I trust Dr. Looney, so I agreed. That same night, I had complications and sent him a message. He got back with me and told me the procedure was back on and that I still needed an MRI. He said he would call me “tomorrow” but if things got worse to let him know. Today is Saturday, I sent him a message last night and he responded. Even though it is the weekend and his time off, he still takes care of his patients. I can’t tell you how much it means to me to have such a caring doctor. He makes sure all my questions are answered, he is so personable and has a great bedside manner. My husband liked him from the beginning. I would like for Dr. Christopher Looney to get the recognition he deserves."
