Press Conference sheds light on missing Columbia County Mother!

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office held a news conference TODAY to discuss the disappearance 39-year-old Andrya DeGhelder. She was last seen leaving the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center on Wednesday, July 25th.

During the press conference investigators said more details will be available after forensics and an autopsy is performed. They believe DeGhelder was taken from her home by someone she knew.

Investigators say they found a body in Grovetown, and believe that it could be Andrya Deghelder. The body was recovered from a container reserved for recycling cardboard at the Gateway Shopping Center on Lewiston Road.

People searched for her over the weekend, passing out flyers and urging anyone with information to come forward.

Sheriff Whittle said that numerous members of law enforcement have been working tirelessly on this case. He also said the residence of Ivy Falls were active in searching for Andrya DeGhelde. There were up to seven cameras that may hold more information to solving this crime and the Sheriff said during the news conference that he is sure this case will be solved but could not release any additional details.

There is a candlelight vigil planned for Thursday and we will share more on it as details become available.
