Operation Snowfall Joint Community investigation results in indictments!

"Operation Snowfall" was a huge success! You may be hearing of it for the first time but it has been a nearly two year operation designed to identify and bring drug trafficking rings that extended from Atlanta to Augusta to an end.

During a press conference today US Attorney Bobby Chrstine, flanked by multiple law enforcement agencies detailed Operation Snowfall. Among the details was that more than 20 people -- including a father and two sons -- were allegedly moving cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana.

Officials said they seized two kilograms of cocaine, 32 grams of crack cocaine, 9 pounds of marijuana, and $500,000 in cash.

Richmond County Sheriff Richard Roundtree, said that 20 kilos of cocaine were being trafficked to Augusta at one point. The Sheriff also said that this was a nearly two year investigation and indicated that Augusta should be proud of the success of the operation. Aiken County Sheriff Mike Hunt stated that there are no borders when it comes to fighting crime across our communities and that the water was not a boundary from keeping the entire community safe.

The eight defendants in this case are facing several counts of conspiracy to distribute drugs. Seven of those defendants, are facing counts of drug possession with intent to distribute.

The press conference was on a Facebook LIVE feed from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office. See below the video from the RCSO FB Live feed.
