Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old African-American woman, was fatally shot by Louisville Metro Police Department officers Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Myles Cosgrove on March 13, 2020. Three plainclothes LMPD officers entered her apartment in Louisville, Kentucky, executing a no-knock search warrant.
Only one officer was indicted in connection with her death today.
Lonita Baker, an attorney representing Breonna Taylor's family, responded to prosecutors' decision not to charge police officers involved in the death of Taylor with murder, saying the decision was both "offensive and ... egregious."
