Entertainment News: Kendrick Lamar Headlines Super Bowl, Fans Divided

Rapper Kendrick Lamar is officially headlining the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show! In a YouTube video, he made the exciting announcement yesterday, standing on a football field with a massive American flag behind him. With his signature confidence, Kendrick said, "My name is Kendrick Lamar, and I'll be performing at Super Bowl 59. Will you be pulling up? I hope so." Shortly after the video dropped, the NFL, Roc Nation, and Apple Music confirmed the news in a joint press release.

Kendrick, who boasts 17 Grammys, also dominated the charts this summer with his hit single "They Not Like Us." However, the announcement sparked mixed reactions on social media. Lil Wayne's manager, like many others, voiced disappointment, arguing that Wayne, a New Orleans native, should’ve headlined since the big game is being held in his hometown. Master P also showed his support for Wayne, posting on Instagram: "Lil Wayne should be a part of this celebration as well. He’s one of the greatest Hip-Hop artists alive, still relevant, and he’s a New Orleans native. Let’s not miss this cultural moment in the South."

In other news… Snoop Dogg recently shared an interesting idea during an interview with Entertainment Tonight—he wants to create the "Hood Olympics"! Snoop explained that there are plenty of people in the hood with incredible athletic skills, from running a 10.2 to high jumping, flipping, and even swimming, but they don’t get the chance to showcase their talents. His vision for the Hood Olympics is to give these athletes the recognition they deserve. Sounds like the Hoodie Awards, but for sports, right?

And finally, let’s talk numbers—OnlyFans, the app known for its adult content, reported a massive 19% increase in revenue for 2023, bringing in a jaw-dropping $6.6 billion. Launched in 2016, the platform has over 305 million creators, with many earning 80% of their profits.
